The short answer. The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro share a body — both are 6.3-inch phones at 152.8 × 72 × 8.5 mm — and brands including Spigen, ZAGG and OtterBox sell one protector listed for both. The 9 Pro XL is a different phone and needs its own. All three read fingerprints ultrasonically, so choose thin glass with adhesive across the whole face and skip privacy film.

Fit

One protector covers the 9 and the 9 Pro

Both the Pixel 9 and the Pixel 9 Pro measure 152.8 × 72 × 8.5 mm with a 6.3-inch display and a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 front. That is why so many listings name both: Spigen's EZ Fit, ZAGG's Glass Elite and OtterBox's Premium Glass all cover the pair in a single product.

The Pixel 9 Pro XL is 6.8 inches and a different body altogether, so nothing here transfers to it.

Fingerprint sensor

Ultrasonic: thin, fully bonded, untinted

Both phones read fingerprints by sending sound through whatever covers the screen. In practice that means thin glass reads better than thick, adhesive across the whole face beats edge-only glue (an air gap over the sensor is the classic failure), and privacy film puts a louvre layer exactly where you do not want one.
